Which B.A. degree is more in demand/secure Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism?
Saturday, January 30th, 2010I am considering a career in three related fields: pr (public relations), journalism, or marketing. Now, I know that a PR career would accept any one of the above degrees, and journalism would accept either of the first two. I am considering double-majoring in a very practical, secure job field like nursing. However, I am considering a job that would suit my passion (dealing with the public, being creative, writing, and/or marketing. I DO NOT WANT A DEGREE THAT HANG ON A WALL AND NOT BE USED, OR WORSE YET, NOT BE ABLE TO FIND A JOB OR HAVE THE DEGREE/JOB SECTOR BECOME OBSOLETE. I do value a job that will not have impossible competition, will have job openings, but is a bit more in the above range? Any suggestions for stable, in-demand communications-type jobs?

Consuming Kids part 4 of 7
Friday, January 29th, 2010
Consuming Kids throws desperately needed light on the practices of a relentless multi-billion dollar marketing machine that now sells kids and their parents everything from junk food and violent video games to bogus educational products and the family car. Drawing on the insights of health care professionals, children’s advocates, and industry insiders, the film focuses on the explosive growth of child marketing in the wake of deregulation, showing how youth marketers have used the latest advances in psychology, anthropology, and neuroscience to transform American children into one of the most powerful and profitable consumer demographics in the world. Consuming Kids pushes back against the wholesale commercialization of childhood, raising urgent questions about the ethics of children’s marketing and its impact on the health and well-being of kids. Friday, January 29th, 2010
In this companion lecture to Dr. Bruce Lipton’s “Biology of Perception ” ( Part 1: www.youtube.com ), Rob Williams, MA and Originator of PSYCH-K, discusses how beliefs determine your biological and behavorial realities and shows how to establish communication with the subconscious to “rewrite the software of the mind” and facilitate change. PSYCH-K is a simple and direct way to change self-limiting beliefs at the subconscious level of the mind, where nearly all human behavior originates, both constructive and destructive. Its overall goal is to accelerate individual and global spiritual evolution by aligning subconscious beliefs with conscious wisdom from the worlds great spiritual and intellectual traditions. Rob Williams has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Masters Degree in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Colorado. He is President of The Myrddin Corporation, and Director of the PSYCH-K Centre International. Rob’s life-long exploration of human potential, combined with his background in marketing, advertising, business management — and 14 years in private practice as a psychotherapist — provides a practical, results-oriented approach to personal change.
