How exactly might a small business use market segmentation? For example, would a service-based business alter services offered to different markets?

Kevin67 asked:

We are a pureplay transitioning to catalog and brick and mortar. We expect to have 30-100 stores and will start the catalog division mailing mostly our existing customers. The question that I have is primarly relating to how to structure the marketing/sales group. I would love to hear how other multi-channel retailers with sales between 30M and 100M have structured their teams and related pro/cons that they have encountered.

I gave my daughter one of our Directv receiver to take to college. She goes to Michigan State in East Lansing Michigan. We had Green Bay local channels at home. Now at college she gets all the channels except local channels. It just says searching for satellite. Can this be fixed or do we just live with out them?

What is the size of the Mobile Messaging Solutions Industry in Europe?

Daniel O asked:

I would prefer to focus more particularly on Central Eastern Europe, or if possible just Hungary. I’m doing my final project related to my university degree on the Mobile Messaging Solutions Industry provided by the likes of GoodLink and RIM. RIM is probably the most famous service provider and their blackberrys are recognized world over. I am not focusing on the phones per se but rather the services that they supply. The questions regarding the marketing information I am having trouble with and need answers from are listed in priority:

1. Sizing the mobility market (for Hungary or nearest to Hungary as possible: Central Eastern Europe or all of Europe will do.)

2. What is the Forecasted growth / rate over the next few years for this industry in this territory and generally worldwide?

3. What is the Market Segmentation used?

4. What are the different target groups involved?

Important! I will need to know the source of the data, without it I can’t use it. Thanks!

Marketing Strategies for Website?

Proud Canadian asked:

I have recently completed a website called http://www.themilliondirhamhomepage.com which is basically modelled after the world-famous http://www.themilliondollarhomepage.com. This website will focus on advertisers from Dubai and the Middle East region predominantly. So far, I have thought of advertising in the local newspaper 2 or 3 times, followed by banner ads on popular local sites. In addition, I will also use contacts such as Marketing Managers to get some ‘good names’ on the website for free of cost, but in the long-term the idea of this project is to make money. As such, I would appreciate if people could give their own input into some good marketing strategies to get this website fully filled up and make a profit.
